Research Insight: CISERO and 8ra at the Platform Industrie 4.0 webinar

This Research Insight focuses on 8ra, a European digital initiative aiming to build an open, sovereign, and interoperable digital infrastructure. The initiative emerges from the IPCEI-CIS (Important Project of Common European Interest on Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services) framework and addresses Europe’s growing dependence on non-European digital technologies and services.
 

8ra project works towards establishing a secure and scalable European cloud-edge infrastructure, based on a unified and decentralised architecture. By enabling seamless integration across multiple providers, it supports interoperability and scalability across sectors and borders. The initiative currently brings together around 120 organisations from industry, research, and technology, with participation from 12 EU Member States.
 

The session provides an overview of the 8ra initiative and highlights the role of the CISERO project as a strategic support action within the IPCEI-CIS ecosystem. It also presents concrete use cases demonstrating the application of next-generation cloud-edge solutions in key sectors, including building management, railway systems, and specialised machinery.
 

This event is particularly relevant for stakeholders involved in IPCEI-CIS, as it showcases how collaborative European efforts are advancing resilient, energy-efficient, and sovereign digital infrastructures, while bridging innovation from research to industrial deployment.
